Our Story

Minimising the risk of a fire breaking out is the number one priority in your fire safety strategy.

Fire detection systems supplied by AFP provide early warning of a potential emergency situation.

In the event of a fire breaking out, AFP can help you to take steps to contain and stop it from spreading any further.

Fire safety signage is essential to direct staff, visitors and people on how to exit your premises in emergencies.

Advanced Fire Protection (AFP) was set up by Padraigh McEnaney in 2009, having previously worked as a senior fire-service engineer for almost 10 years.
A graduate of Engineers Ireland, Padraigh’s experience and expertise in the fire-safety industry are second to none.

A Fire Risk Assessment is a systematic review of a premises and all the activities carried out there to establish the possibility of a fire occurring and the factors that may contribute to a fire breaking out. The Fire Risk Assessment identifies how these factors can be managed to prevent, contain or eliminate the possibility of a fire occurring.

The Fire Risk Assessment includes:

  • Assessing the likelihood of potential events and scenarios that may contribute or cause a fire;
  • Identifying who is at risk and how best to protect them and keep them safe;
  • Evaluating – assessing potential risks and the impact on people at risk, taking into account existing systems and control measure in place.

  • Recommendations – recommendations to ensure that the appropriate systems, procedures and controls are implemented to ensure the safety of all people (employees, customers, visitors, subcontractors etc..);
  • Action List – identifies the most appropriate action to be taken to ensure that fire hazards are avoided and/or risk reduced to a level that is acceptable and manageable given the resources available;
  • Systems – advice regarding systems that can be implemented to safeguard against accidents;
  • Controls – recommendations where risks can be reduced and/or eliminated and advice on appropriate control procedures.

Employees need to understand the general principles of fire safety and what procedures are in place to ensure their safety and the safety of all other people on the premises.
